The CRC1225 ISOQUANT is happy to announce the Open Call for the NTMxISOQUANT SciArt Residency.

How can quantum physics be depicted theatrically and translated into artistic processes? From June to December 2025, one or more authors will explore this question in a six-month residency programme jointly organised by the drama department of the Nationaltheater Mannheim (NTM) and ISOQUANT. The aim of the interdisciplinary residency is to create a text in German, which will be presented publicly at the NTM at the end of the residency.

With the NTMxISOQUANT Residency, we want to initiate a curiosity-driven debate between artists, scientists and other members of society, promote a spirit of shared learning and equality and at the same time contribute to the transfer of knowledge through interdisciplinary collaboration. A central component of the residency will be active collaboration and exchange with researchers from ISOQUANT. The approach of the program is to be understood as an open perspective: The form, process and outcome of the residency are completely free and determined by the artists themselves.

The traditional Nationaltheater Mannheim is a theater and opera company (opera, theater, dance, young theater). Outstanding artistic achievements, premieres and world premieres as well as exemplary work with children and young people make the Nationaltheater one of the most important theaters in Germany. Around 1,300 performances for around 330,000 visitors every year are testament to this, as is its national coverage. Its highly acclaimed festivals underline the international appeal of the NTM. The Nationaltheater enjoys a supra-regional reputation as a world premiere theater thanks to the position of an in-house playwright, which is reassigned each year, as well as numerous premieres and first performances.
